Richard Saber

Vietnamese-American choral conductor Richard Saber has begun developing himself as a preeminent choral scholar and music educator in the Northeast. He studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston and will complete his degree with a Bachelor’s of Music in Music Education with a minor in Choral Conducting. Before transferring to Berklee, he began his education at Westminster Choir College.

In recent years, he has studied conducting under Allegra Martin, Michael Barrett, and Reagan Paras as well as Grammy nominated conductor James Jordan. He has also sung under the direction of acclaimed conductors Amanda Quist, Joe Miller, Jamie Bunce, and has studied private voice with the renowned countertenor Dr. Jay Carter and leading voice-pedagogue Tim Welch.

While beginning his studies at Berklee, he also founded and currently directs the Chord Achoired – a student-run vocal chamber ensemble specializing in renaissance, baroque, classical, and contemporary choral music. Richard is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association and is the Collegiate Representative for the Massachusetts Chapter of the national organization. He also began the student chapter at Berklee and Boston Conservatory with the help of Dr. Nathan Reiff prior to receiving his nomination to the Mass. ACDA Board.

He currently studies voice with Professor Frankie Campofelice and sings under Dr. Stephen Spinelli at Boston Conservatory. While continuing his academic studies, Richard is also working on his next concert season with Chord Achoired.

Guilty Pleasure: eating sandwiches from small mom and pop delis and chips
Coolest experience: my trip to Australia where I got to bungee jump and go scuba diving over the Great Barrier Reef
